Neuropsychology Assessment
The neuropsychology assessment process involves the integration of interviews, questionnaires, and structured tasks by a Psychologist who has undergone additional training in psychometrics, test administration, and cognitive neuroscience. The goal of an assessment is to gain a comprehensive understanding of a person’s cognitive functioning and its relationship with their brain health. In addition to general psychological well-being, other areas assessed include orientation, learning and memory, language, visuoperception, social cognition and executive functioning.
Most commonly people are referred as part of investigating a possible neurodevelopmental or neurodegenerative diagnosis; to monitor change in a person’s cognitive functioning over time; to understand the impact of an acquired brain injury; or to guide their neurorehabilitation.
